**Introduction to the role of the team**

Are you passionate about helping Leeds City Council’s communications and marketing team tell the story of one the country’s fastest-growing, most dynamic cities?

It’s a fascinating time to work for us as we balance the challenges of being the country’s second-biggest local authority with our aim for Leeds to be a place where everyone can thrive as we work towards our ambition to be the best city in the UK.

This is a rare opportunity to work with a highly skilled team of communications and marketing professionals in a role that is pivotal to supporting that ambition through the council’s priorities.

You will be part of the forward-thinking team that tells the council’s and the Leeds story through excellent public relations, marketing, design, and digital communications. We drive campaigns, help services inform and engage with people about what the council is doing and work across a range of initiatives and issues.

**Your role**

We have three communications officer posts available and need people who can work both independently and as part of a team, to consistently achieve a high standard of work that helps deliver council and city priorities.

These three posts require people with specialist skills to work within our press and media, digital and social and graphic design functions. You will also have further opportunities to work across a range of projects and areas.

**What you will bring to the role**

This is the ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys delivering to tight deadlines. Excellent written skills and the ability to communicate clearly in an engaging way are musts; as are exceptional interpersonal and diplomatic abilities, political awareness, a proactive outlook, and an enthusiastic approach to a wide range of topics and tasks.

You will be a motivated team player and a critical thinker with the ability to understand the needs of the people of Leeds and beyond.

We’re looking for a media expert who knows how to make the best of the stories behind what the council is doing and is also adept at understanding reputation management. Our digital and social officer will be at the forefront of the latest platforms, tools, and trends. The graphic designer will be an innovator, taking the creative lead on projects and providing professional advice and guidance.

Leeds City Council is a compassionate employer that is proud to offer the best employee experience. Our employee benefits aim to look after your health and wellbeing, your workplace and your finances. Our shared values and behaviours help everyone to be their best.
