Within this context the post holder will be a key member of the planning team, leading on key planning policy related projects.

With our Cheltenham Plan adopted, you will support the wider Development Management Team in the effective implementation of the policy framework together with guiding on changes to the NPPF and nPPG and wider policy influences and changes. Your key role will be on helping to drive forward the review of the Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Joint Core Strategy together with developing Supplementary Planning Documents to support key policy outcomes for the borough including helping to drive the thinking around the future of the High Street.

**About the role**

You will support the Head of Planning in the production of the Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Joint Core Strategy within the defined timescales.

You will support the Head of Planning in the updating production of the Cheltenham Plan, and Supplementary Planning Documents, design codes and other relevant policies within the defined timescales.

You will prepare and give evidence at any future public local inquiries in relation to planning policy, including for the Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Joint Core Strategy and the Cheltenham Plan.

You will work with the Council’s Directorates to ensure that the Cheltenham Plan and Joint Core Strategy support the Council’s key corporate aims.

You will support the Head of Planning in contributing to and responding to the development and implementation of planning policies/strategies developed at the national level.

**To be successful you will need**
- To be a chartered member, or eligible for membership of the RTPI.
- Experience working within a planning policy or wider Development Management environment.
- To be proactive and self-motivated and able to see tasks through to a successful conclusion, including meeting challenging deadlines where necessary.
- To be able to develop positive working relationships with colleagues and used to working as part of a team
