**JOB DESCRIPTION**

JOB TITLE Good Neighbour North Organiser

LOCATION At home and across the north part of Rural West Cheshire

**Primary Purpose**

Working with a group of volunteers, to run OPAL’s Good Neighbour service (including Telephone Friends) for older people living at home in the north part of rural West Cheshire. Thereby support physically and/or mentally frail older people, who are socially isolated, to continue living at home either on their own or with family/friends.

**Principal Responsibilities** (This is not an exhaustive list)

2. Actively seek and receive referrals for this service. Identify those in need of this service and assess their needs and wishes for support to continue living at home.

3. With the Volunteer Co-ordinator, train, support and guide the volunteers in undertaking the “good neighbour” tasks. Develop the volunteers’ knowledge and skills and work alongside them as required.

4. Introduce the volunteers to the members they are to support and identify and agree those tasks to be undertaken.

5. Ensure a safe environment for members and volunteers, including any appropriate safe Covid behaviours.

6. Hold meetings (face to face and/or virtual) with volunteers and circulate information to them.

7. Monitor members well-being and assist them, as their needs change, to receive services and support from other OPAL services, our volunteers and/or other agencies.

8. Establish and maintain close and effective relationships with the local community and with other relevant organisations that provide services for older people.

9. Using the lap-top provided ensure full records (both written and virtual) are kept of all aspects of the running of the service; the members and volunteers, including financial records.

10. Report regularly (either via Teams or face to face) to your Line Manager and the Joint Operations Meeting (JOM) about all matters concerning the operation, achievements, outcome measures required by funders and communicate any issues facing this service. To provide reports to the funders and the OPAL Board.

11. Attend Joint Operations Meetings, staff meetings and appropriate training events.

12. Participate in OPAL’s fund-raising activities.

13. Participate in any changes in service design and delivery as required by the OPAL Board and/or the funders, and to undertake any reasonable tasks requested by your Line Manager.

**Qualifications & Training**

**Essential**

A good standard of general education, to include passes at GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths.

**Desirable**

Care related training and qualifications. eg. NVQ 2 or 3 in Social Care or Health Care or equivalent

Management training and/or supervisory training.

**Experience and Knowledge**

**Essential**

Working with vulnerable adults and/or children

Held a management or supervisory role

Responsible for running/operating a business, service, section etc

Recording information and report writing

Knowledge of the communities in the north part of rural Cheshire West

**Desirable**

Working with older people

Experience of working as a volunteer or with volunteers

Working in a volunteer based organisation

Working in a social care or health setting

Keeping basic financial records

Living in or near the north part of Cheshire West

**Skills and Abilities**

**Essential**

Organised, with good time management

Able to lead small teams of people and set their tasks and goals

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written forms

Competent IT skills for daily use with Microsoft office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams) and good level of general IT skills (e.g. web based-apps, internet, mobile phone apps) to be able to follow direction when required.
