**Strategic Director - ESG, Nature Finance**

Climate17 are pleased to be working with a mission driven consultancy who work with their clients to integrate nature within their sustainability strategy, creating new ways of working matching purpose with performance. Over the past 2 years they have seenan increase in business and have grown the team to meet the demand. Continuing the trend they are looking for an individual to take the lead with their financial services clients and respond to market needs within nature finance and scale-up investments innature positive opportunities and develop strategies.

You will take a prominent role and manage key projects and client relationships, whilst leading a high performing group of nature finance and sustainability specialists working across banking, investment, insurance, risk management and asset management todesign strategy and policy to redirect financial flows towards protection and restoration of nature.

**Responsibilities**

As the Strategic Director for Nature Finance you will create and implement nature finance strategy and the business plan, within this role you will build relationships and form partnerships within the financial sector to mobilise nature finance this willinclude a network of industry professionals from NGO's, government, academia and scientific institutions.

Other responsibilities will include:

- Operational management to drive innovation and strategy implementation.
- Management of a team, to deliver nature-based solutions.
- Develop technical approaches including biodiversity / nature metrics and modelling
- Deliver consultancy services which are contributing to the global agenda to transform the financial sector with nature positive approaches.
- Write and review content material for business press, website and a range of publications.
- Represent and take part at public speaking events and elevate the profile of the business.

**Requirements**:

- A minimum of 15 years' in managing ESG risks, preferably from within a financial institution. Background or experience in business and biodiversity and wider nature-related issues, with a focus on emerging economies is advantageous.
- In-depth working knowledge of emerging "good practice" in managing financial risks of nature impacts & dependencies and on sustainability financial disclosures frameworks including: CBD post-2020 global biodiversity framework, TNFD, EU taxonomy, EFRAG ESRS4,etc.).
- Previously created and directed work programmes to developing and implement strategy, with a proven track record of business development and client relationship management. Strong project management experience, with a focus on engaging with a diverse rangeof local and international stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, confident to speak in public, lead workshops and write engaging content.
- Natural and inspirational leadership skills with a simplistic and creative response to problem solving.
- Ability to travel globally and when necessary. Experience working in Africa, Latin America, or Asia would be beneficial along with language skills in French or Spanish.
