We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join us at Ilkeston Community Hospital.

The successful post holder will maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the Catering Department and serve meals and functions to patients, staff and visitors to the Trust, ensuring that Food Hygiene Regulations and Health & Safety at Work policies and procedures are complied with.

The post holder will also provide a catering service in line with patient nutrition and hydration and will play an integral part in delivering outstanding patient care at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS).

The hours of work are 3pm -7pm, 4 days over a 7 day period

To wash crockery and cooking utensils in order to assist in providing a safe and hygienic catering operation.

Responsible for putting stores away, including stock rotation and keeping all storage areas clean and tidy in line with the Food Hygiene Regulations.

Removal of all refuse and rubbish into the appropriate waste streams including food waste and waste oil and replenishing and cleaning of all refuse bins located in the area.

To ensure high standards of both personal and food hygiene are maintained and ensuring all relevant departmental policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

To ensure all labelling is accurate and appropriate.

Service of food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors as required.

The Purpose and Activities of DCHS?

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations.

During the pandemic response we have led the implementation of public vaccination centres in collaboration with partners across health and social care.
