We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join our inspiring and friendly team at Doncaster Crisis.

Your role will be a fixed based position working at Doncaster Recovery Lounge in Doncaster Crisis. You will work full time, 33 hours per week on a Fixed term contract with a salary of £18,090.60 to £19,860.93. You can read more about the rewards you will receive on the full advert on our website.

Our crisis and step-down care provides a safe and supportive environment as an alternative to hospital for people going through a period of crisis. We can provide emotional and practical support to help individuals get back on their feet, promoting a culture of hope for those affected by mental health problems. Working in partnership Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Teams and CMHT’s, our services are recovery-focussed, offering effective interventions that resolve the immediate crisis, and also help people to develop coping skills through person-centred crisis contingency and relapse prevention planning e.g. Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and peer support groups

**How will you make a difference?**
- Work as part of a Crisis Service providing practical and emotional support to users of the crisis service and callers to the helpline.
- Provide support with daily living ‘living ordinary lives’
- Prioritise the individual need, working to the recovery model to support them to work towards their identified goals
- Use skills and Rethink Mental Illness values to underpin day-to-day work
- Develop relationships and support to individuals based on appropriate boundaries.
- Positively promote individuals living independently within the community by maintaining extensive knowledge of and links with community resources including signposting to specialist services.
- Actively support individuals to use these resources, thereby countering discrimination and encouraging social inclusion
- Encourage individuals to maintain community links, continue with their normal life activities and maintain their support networks

**Who am I?**
- Experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Experience of working with people with mental health needs in a coaching and goal setting way.
- Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and embedding the ethos of recovery into your own practice.
- The ability to make a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans to meet these needs.
- A strong working knowledge of mental health and appropriate intervention methods.
- Ability to work proactively and collaboratively with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- IT skills including competent use of Microsoft Office and use of electronic record keeping systems.
- Ability to prioritise workload demands and positively respond to unforeseen challenges.
- A sound understanding of the roles, responsibilities, referral pathways and structures of all agencies involved in responding to crisis resolution and home treatment
