We are looking for two creative and passionate people professional's who are highly experienced in delivering impactful people management and organisational development at a senior level. One post will be based at the Royal Liverpool and the second at Aintree.
Reporting to the site Director's of People you will support them at a strategic level to take forward inclusive leadership and people capability and lead transformational change programmes at pace. As a senior, high profile and influential role, you will play an integral part in the facilitation and delivery of excellent standards of healthcare services via the provision of an inclusive People function with the aim of contributing to the delivery of excellent patient services and experiences.
An effective and compassionate leader, you will lead the development of a modern People & OD function that supports the strategic development of hospital sites and the Trust's future direction. You will role model a business focused and performance oriented approach, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and taking the lead in the hospital sites annual and longer term workforce plan, which underpins the operational plan and trust strategy
You will support and lead members of the HR and OD Service to deliver first class and seamless support to divisional management teams to help them deliver their workforce and OD agendas, continue to improve staff experience and promote a positive learning culture.
This role will be the senior operational lead for People and OD on site, leading the full range of the P&OD services on a day-to-day basis. This will include proactively leading and advising at site on the full range of People & OD services, providing expert advice on very complex employment and
organisational development issues and support and enhance the strategic direction & performance of People & OD KPI’s at site. The post holder is expected to deputise for the Director of People.
The Head of People will have managerial responsibility for a team of People & OD professionals for the site and will have experience and ability to investigate and provide advice on very complex workforce issues, proactively leading on People & OD solutions and action plans. They will have strong skills and experience of engaging and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including employees, line managers, clinical leaders and corporate functions, using different tools and modalities.
The post holder will support the site Director of People in the delivery of Trust corporate objectives and represent their site and the People &OD service at meetings internally and externally.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.
The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

1. Lead the transformation of People services at site, providing expert advice and direction consistent with People &OD strategy, trust corporate objectives and trust values, including
leading and/or influencing major organisational change to improve patient safety, patient experience including improving the experience of staff and the overall quality and efficiency of services.
2. Understand, take part in and influence the strategic direction, seeking to ensure that people issues are considered when developing clinical/other service strategies business plans and workforce plans, by operating as a full member of the divisional board.
3. Demonstrate skilful relationship building with site /divisional managers and staff, trade union colleagues and other internal and external stakeholders to uphold the reputation of People & OD and the Trust, showing mature understanding and an ability to deal with sensitive, political and conflicting agendas and to work with uncertainty.
4. Proactively lead on complex, sensitive and often contentious workforce issues providing prompt expert, evidence based advice and solutions, interpreting employment legislation and case law, seeking senior and/or legal advice to support decision making when necessary.
