We are looking for an a highly committed and experienced counsellor to join our team.

The post holder is responsible for providing counselling services to bereaved and non-bereaved parents in the Gynaecology division. The post holder will liaise with teams for the Whitworth Clinic, Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic, Emergency Gynaecology Unit, Gynaecology Wards, Fetal Management Unit, Maternity Wards and other areas within the Trust where patients have experienced early pregnancy loss (up to 20 weeks gestation, including miscarriage, termination of pregnancy including for fetal abnormality and ectopic pregnancy).

The post holder will be expected to work across the MCS which includes SMH Oxford Road Campus, SMH Wythenshawe Campus and North Manchester General Hospital. There will be availability to work remotely with this Role.

**Working Hours**: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 17:00pm

Undertake assessments of all referred, many of whom present with multiple and complex issues (e.g., mental health concerns, and/or safeguarding concerns) in order to establish appropriateness of support and risk assessment (regarding harm to self and others)

Deliver compassionate, specialist therapeutic counselling to parents addressing issues around bereavement, pregnancy loss, and recurrent miscarriage.

Carry a caseload of individual (in-patient and out-patient) and couple counselling, providing short
- and medium-term counselling and support as required.

Provide crisis counselling and/or emotional and psychological support in situations of trauma for parents and staff within Gynaecology Services.

Provide, where necessary, debriefing sessions with the Gynaecology team members following a critical incident.

The post holder is responsible and accountable for matters of professional clinical judgement. Nevertheless, they may seek advice and guidance as required and appropriate from liaison psychiatry or other accredited psychotherapy/clinical psychology colleagues and other healthcare specialists.
