Reporting into the Deputy Director of HR you will be working closely with our key stakeholders to provide advice and guidance on a broad range of employee relations, including case management of complex ER issues, supporting the University of Wolverhampton with Employments Tribunals or ACAS conciliation processes, change management projects and to develop and coach our leaders to support ER cases at investigations, disciplinary and appeal stages.

We are looking for a highly organised and structured individual with effective complex management skills.

You will have experience of HR, ideally specifically within an Employee Relations role in a unionised environment and have extensive knowledge of UK employment legislation. You will also be flexible to the changing requirements of the University and HE sector and provide a challenging approach where required. Familiarity with educational issues would naturally be useful, but your interpersonal, conflict resolution and influencing skills will be of far more important.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Work in partnership with managers and HR colleagues to develop and implement strategies which support the employee voice and employee involvement.
- In conjunction with managers and HR Business Partners ensure that change projects are managed to a high standard and the necessary policies, tools and interventions are applied to support benefit realisation.
- Ensure the University complies with its legal requirements in relation to employee relations issues, interpreting employment legislation and case law and ensure appropriate policies, procedures and updated and communicated
- Line Manage a team of HR Advisors providing coaching and support as required to enable them to deliver a first class service to key stakeholders.
- Play a lead role in co-ordination and execution of change projects to ensure that they are managed to a high standard and the necessary policies, tools and interventions are applied to support benefit realisation.

**Person Specification**:

- Hold Chartered MCIPD status (as a minimum), you will be a commercially ‘savvy’ HR professional with the ability to persuade and negotiate at all levels. You should be credible and confident with a successful track record in the ER field, regardless of sector background.
- Experience of HR practice and delivering innovative solutions within a complex & dynamic business environment
- Ability to build credibility, trust and respect with academic and professional colleagues, internally and externally.
- The ability to use management information and technology to identify salient issues and inform decision making.
