Lead Maternity Support Worker for Retention and

This an exciting opportunity to widen your skills as the Lead Maternity Support Worker (LMSW). The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the current LMSW lead, the retention midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will provide support to existing and new maternity healthcare assistants and support workers to support ongoing learning and development opportunities. The main focus will be to expand on education and learning experience of maternity care assistants, maternity support workers and other non-clinical staff. The post holder will be responsible for participating in the recruitment process, organisation and support during induction programme for newly appointed staff, support with the Fundamental of Care Certificate as well as ongoing development of existing staff. This is a 12 month fixed term /secondment post
To provide training where necessary and leadership to the maternity support workers.
To develop and maintain effective communications internally and externally.
To use initiative and work autonomously, participate in identifying areas of learning for the MCA/MSW and act upon finding and plans agreed.
To be able to Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education, training and development across the healthcare support worker workforce.
You will assist with teaching clinical skills appropriate to role and post holder’s skill level.
Have the ability to Work clinically alongside non-registered healthcare staff and assist in their development by promoting and delivering education practice and the implementation of departmental policies.
Provide support during induction programme for newly appointed staff, support with the Fundamental of Care Certificate as well as ongoing development of existing staff.
