**Job Title**:NEST Community Response Project Worker

Fixed Term Contract for 21 months

**Location**:New Heights Warren Farm Community Project, Kingstanding, Birmingham.
**Salary**: £12.21PH - TERM TIME ONLY, 24 hours per week Monday - Thursday **responsible to**:NEST Service Manager
**Accountable to**: New Heights Warren Farm Community Project Trustee Board

**Background**:
With thanks to Big Lottery Funding, we are delivering a community response project covering the Kingstanding and North Birmingham localities.

The NEST Project is part of New Height’s portfolio of projects, aimed at tackling local deprivation and encouraging positive lifestyle changes. Based at New Heights community café in the heart of Kingstanding, the NEST project will provide domestic abuse counselling and welfare support to enable our community to flourish.

**Job Purpose**:
To working alongside a team of qualified counsellors to provide a wide range of wellbeing and welfare related support, information and advice to a variety of audiences including;
- Elderly community residents
- Vulnerable clients with complex needs
- Partner agencies
- Professionals
- Young people

**Key responsibilities**:
1. To collate referrals for none counselling clients and complete initial assessment of needs

2. To work alongside the counselling team to provide support in accessing recovery focussed support services (such as mental health, addiction support, family support)

3. To work alongside the counselling team to provide information, advice and support to counselling clients on a wide range of welfare and wellbeing related matters

4. To support community members in accessing statutory and voluntary support form partner agencies

5. To promote positive, healthy lifestyle choices through information sharing

6. To work with the NEST counsellors to deliver domestic abuse awareness raising sessions to partner agencies, professionals and young people

9. To work in conjunction with New Heights Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and support volunteers

10. To work with the NEST counsellors to develop a range of self-help guides and promotional materials

11. To work with and support volunteers within their roles within the project

12. To identify and build relationships with other local organisations

13. To provide sign posting information and onward referral

14. To maintain accurate client records and service data

15. To ensure monitoring and evaluation information is collated to evidence project achievement

16. To identify new and emerging community need and make available appropriate information and sign posting

17. To work in partnership with other local projects to meet community needs (such as provision of debt advice)

18. To promote and represent the NEST project and New Heights at partner agency meetings and forums

19. To attend supervision and team meetings

20. To ensure Safeguarding principles are at the heart of the service and are dealt with in-line with the New Heights and Local Authority safeguarding processes

21. To implement and adhere to New Heights Policies and Procedures at all times

22. To carry out any other reasonable tasks commensurate with the role

23. To be available to occasionally attend weekend and evening events

**Key Qualifications & Experience**:

- Minimum level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline (social care, early years, housing, family support work)
- Level 2 Information, Advice and Guidance (or a willingness to complete within the first 6 months of employment)
- Experience in supporting vulnerable adults and families within a community setting
- Working as part of a multi disciplinary team
- Design and delivery of information session to those aged 16 years and over
- **Note**:_The NEST project operates term time only, therefore all staff are required to use annual leave allowance during none operational weeks. Leave during operating weeks will only be granted in exceptional circumstances._
