We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with previous health or social care experience to support occupational therapy and physiotherapy within the stroke specialty. This part time post will be based within the inpatient team, working with people newly admitted to hospital following acute stroke.

This integrated role is to assist patients with difficulties such as reduced balance, reduced range of movement, reduced mobility & muscle strength, cognitive impairment and reduced confidence improve their ability to manage activities of daily living. A range of therapy interventions are delivered to facilitate recovery and promote independence.

**THE ROLE**: As a therapy support worker your responsibilities will include:

- Working with patients referred by occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Tasks include personal and domestic activities of daily living, mobility and transfer practice, organising and implementing physical treatment sessions from treatment protocols and monitoring patient progress.
- Liaising with therapy staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Documentation of therapy interventions undertaken.
- Supporting service administration including ordering of equipment, data input and referrals.
- Health and safety duties.

**The successful therapy support worker will have**:

- Level 3 qualification or experiential learning experience/ competency to a similar level.
- Basic IT skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience of working well within a team
- An ability to organise own workload.
- Experience of working under indirect supervision

Roster patterns include weekend working with a frequency of no more than one shift every four weeks. However with this post the option to work more frequent weekend shifts can be negotiated for those who would prefer that for personal or family reasons.
