**SDS Cell Machine Operator**

**PURPOSE OF JOB**

To work within the SDS Cell. This department carriers out the main production processes of SDS drill bit manufacture. Reporting to the Team Leader/Supervisor and working to deliver the company’s target of 100% OTIF (On Time In Full).

**MANUFACTURING PRIORITIES**:

- Supporting business evolution and growth
- Supporting process developments
- Delivering process efficiencies
- Cost effective delivery of weekly targets/KPI’s
- ISO 9001:2015 Health & Safety Standards Maintained

**RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS**

This is an operational role, duties include:#
- Operating “Slotting”, “Fluting” and “Shanking” machinery
- Setting machinery for batch runs
- Performing first off checks in accordance with Work Instructions
- Loading machinery with raw material
- Setting new tooling & equipment to modify machine diameter capacity
- Reading technical drawings
- Daily maintenance checks
- Modifying wear & geometry offsets
- Basic programme modifications
- Machine, tooling, & workspace housekeeping#
- Signing Route Cards
- Delivering completed batches to the next department
- Using measuring equipment such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometres & Gauges
- Following health and safety procedures at all times
- Keeping work areas visitor ready at all times
- Assisting in other areas of the business when required

The role requires professional delivery, flexibly, and an ability to operate within principles.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Essential**

**Relevant Experience**
- Previous machine shop experience would be advantageous but not essential.
- Knowledge of “Heidenhain controls” would be advantageous but not essential.

**Knowledge and skills**
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Good numeracy skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of safe manual handling
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Requirements

- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Self-motivated with a Strong work ethic

- Uses own initiative and is comfortable making suggestions for improvement
