We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly-motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a Medical Research Council funded Project 'Minority Ethic Women's Experience of Menopause: a mixed methods study'. The project involves mixed-methods research, including structured checklists/questionnaires, biographical narrative interviews and creative methods such as digital story-telling. Using these methods, we will explore the experience of menopause in two broad communities of women based in the Liverpool city region: Chinese-heritage and Black women, and their interaction with health care providers.

Working under the direction of the PI, Professor Susan Pickard, in a multi-disciplinary team comprising social scientists and clinicians, the Research Associate will undertake independent and directed research. The main tasks will involve recruiting our participants through local organisations and visits to relevant community spaces, carrying out interviews and workshops, analysing qualitative and quantitative data and helping organise and take part in dissemination events. We are particularly seeking a Research Associate who is from one of the minority ethnic communities we are researching.

You will have, or be about to submit, a PhD in a social science or cognate discipline. You will have experience of empirical research and an understanding of minority ethnic and/or women¿s health and illness.

The post is available from 1 January 2024 until 30 June 2025.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
