**Main responsibilities** Media Relations and PR
- Play a key role in managing media relations and online, through print, and broadcast coverage - researching media targets, developing media lists, and pitching ideas and to media.
- Build relationships with journalists to ensure the company is front of mind and the go-to charity for comments, information, and stories.
- Support the social media officer to monitor and answer comments / receive and respond to media enquiries, informing the Head of Communications, and advise on media opportunities.
- Play a key PR role in supporting communications and campaigns activities e.g., World Blood Cancer Day

Content Creation
- Create bold and eye-catching content, including press releases, feature articles and statements, including supporting our donor recruitment, fundraising engagement activities.
- Work with internal colleagues to source case studies (e.g., patients & their families) to breathe life into the human stories.
- Produce, plan, and deliver content for external e-newsletters for registered donors.
- Regularly write and upload news articles for the intranet to update colleagues on news in the UK.

Social Media
- In the absence of the head of department, review and approve all social media posts to ensure accurately.
- Media and social monitoring, reporting, and logging - producing weekly news summary reports and monthly coverage - using our monitoring tool.
- To participate in staff training, organisation/team meetings and events, as required.

**Requirements**:

- Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- PR, communications, or journalism experience
- Experience of targeting specific audiences in a B2C and B2B environment
- Experience of creating and disseminating a range of content including personal stories, international and scientific content in multiple formats e.g., written, recorded etc.
