An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Dietitian to join our Paediatric Dietetic service at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

This exciting post offers a range of interesting clinical opportunities within the Diabetes team and as a Paediatric Dietitian providing a service to home enteral feeding (HEF) patients. This full-timepost is split equally between Diabetes team and the HEF patient caseload.

**Diabetes Team**:
You will provide dietary advice and support to patients attending specialist outpatient clinics, including insulin pump, young adult and gestational diabetes. There will also be opportunities to work with the Patient Education team and deliver group diabetes education sessions in the community.

**Home Enteral Feeding Service**:
You will work alongside other dietitians to provide a safe, effective and evidence based dietetic service.
We are looking for a passionate and innovative dietitian who is keen to share and develop their clinical knowledge that they have acquired in relation to dietetics. The role requires excellent communication and team working skills, as well as the ability to work autonomously to manage a specialist caseload.

**Diabetes Team**:

- To provide an efficient, effective and consistently high quality Nutrition and Dietetic service to people with diabetesat Stockport Foundation Trust.
- The role will focus on providing a specialist dietetic service to meet the needs of patients with complex acute and chronic disease processes.
- To provide evidence-based care, education and information to patients, carers and health care professionals. This will be in a range of inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

Home Enteral Feeding Service
- To provide a specialist community-based paediatric home enteral feeding service to children and young people (2-18 years) and their carers.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner in the community to provide expert paediatric nutritional advice and support to patients, carers and health care professionals
- To provide support and advice to paediatric respite care homes and special schools regarding home enteral feeding.
- Provision of a specialist community-based paediatric home enteral feeding service to children and young people (2-18 years) and resolving equipment issues for 0-2 year old patients only
- The Nutrition and Dietetic service across Stockport NHS Foundation Trust provides support to students on clinical placement, and there will be an expectation that the successful applicant will partake in student education as required.
- Act as an expert resource on nutrition science and therapy for staff and patients.
- Provide training of healthcare professionals regarding in relation to nutritional care and interventions, including presentations.
- Liaise with medical, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in relevant ward rounds and meetings.
- Contribute to developing diet sheets and new teaching materials.
- Collect all data necessary to meet local requirements for service monitoring.
- Participate in Quality Assurance programmes and audit.
- Maintain professional competence and expertise, keeping up-to-date with current research, working practices and models of working.
- Participate in personal and professional development through objective setting and regular job review.
- Work as a committed and effective member of the Integrated Nutrition and Dietetics team and Diabetes team in order to maximise the potential of the service and profession.
- Provide dietetic cover for other wards and hospitals as necessary.
- Work towards gaining experience in a specialised area of dietetics if service demands require this, by shadowing and providing cover when appropriate.
