The Inpatient Dietitian Team has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Dietitian, for the role of Clinical Lead Dietitian for Gastroenterology and Enteral Nutrition.
This is a fixed term post and suitable for a secondment opportunity.
You will work alongside Clinical Leads in Catering Nutrition Support Critical Care, Surgery and Parenteral Nutrition reporting to the Team Lead.
The Inpatient Dietitian Team is part of the Integrated Nutrition and Dietetic service at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust with Community Dietitians, Patient Education and TYA Diabetes Dietitian.
Key areas of focus for the role will be working with the larger MDT to support Enteral Nutrition pathways and decision making.
You will support developing pathways with the Community Dietitian team.
All Clinical Lead Dietitians delegate for the Team Lead and Service Lead, as required.
You will provide supervision to Band 6 and 5 Dietitians working within the dietetic team.
You will receive regular supervision from the Team Lead and access to internal and external training.
We are recruiting a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking multidisciplinary professional who has experience and knowledge of working with nutrition.
Main duties of the job To provide a safe, effective and consistently high quality Nutrition and Dietetic service at Stockport Foundation Trust.
To act as a clinical expert and autonomous practitioner in specialist clinical area to provide highly specialist dietetic care to patients with complex nutritional needs.
Manage a delegated caseload within specialist area.
To assess, plan and implement patient centred, evidence-based interventions.
To provide evidence-based care, education and information to patients, carers and health care professionals.
This will be in a range of inpatient and outpatient settings.
Provide line management and supervision to Band 6 and Band 5 Dietitians.
Contribute to the training and development of Dietetic students and Dietetic Assistant/Support workers.
To support and develop the dietetic service within Gastroenterology team.
This will involve attending the Nutrition Team ward rounds and MDT meeting to provide expert advice on Enteral Nutrition.
To partake in specialist Gastroenterology Outpatient clinics such as IBS, IBD, Coeliac and Pancreatitis.
Some clinics will be Consultant led.
To support the Nutrition and Dietetic Service Lead with operational and strategic planning, deputising, as required.

To provide the gastroenterology dietetic service to Stepping Hill Hospital in both in and outpatient settings.
To provide highly specialist nutritional treatment plans for patients with liver and pancreatic disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease, eating disorders and other specific problems.
Regularly evaluate treatment plans to ensure they are safe and effective.
To provide advice on the use of oral nutritional supplements, enteral and parenteral nutrition as required.
Act as an independent practitioner and be professionally accountable and responsible for aspects of own work.
Decide priorities for own work, balance patient-related and professional demands in consultation with other Dietitian team leaders and Service Lead.
To be responsible for planning and service development within specialist areas.
To identify service needs and maximise the efficiency of the team within the resources available.
To work alongside Service Lead and Dietetic Team leads to integrate service and pathways and implement any changes within the team.
To provide line management for specialist team including recruitment and selection, induction, monitoring sickness and absence, performance and development reviews, one-to-one meetings and clinical supervision.
To be a source of clinical expertise for the team providing supervision and mentorship.
To work alongside consultants, specialist nurses and ward staff to provide specialist nutritional treatment plans as part of holistic patient care.
Provision of expert advice on the management of patients referred to the nutrition team due to additional complex clinical and nutritional needs.
To attend ward rounds, MDT meetings and best interest meetings as needed, promoting an understanding of the role of diet and nutrition in achieving the best outcome for each patient.
Provide training to healthcare professionals regarding nutritional care and interventions, including presentations.
Develop and implement pathways, diet sheets, and teaching materials in relation to nutrition and dietetics for use by the department and other professions.
Collect all data necessary to meet local requirements for service monitoring.
Work in conjunction with colleagues on development and implementation of local policies based on national nutritional guidance.
To identify and undertake clinical audit.
Maintain professional competence and expertise, keeping up-to-date with current research, working practices and models of working.
Comply with professional guidelines and Code of Practice.
Participate in personal and professional development through objective setting and regular job review.
Work as a committed and effective member of the Inpatient Dietitian, Integrated Nutrition and Dietetic, Therapy and wider MDT Teams in order to maximise the potential of the service and profession.
Support other specialist dietitians with caseloads in their absence.
As required to offer support to other clinical areas to ensure all patients are seen in a timely manner.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90.
This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
