The site is a third-party tank terminal operator that stores and handles hazardous materials on behalf of its customers. The company owns (and operates) two Upper Tier COMAH facilities, one located within the Site Manufacturing Complex and the second locally.

To provide professional competent advice to the Terminals Management Team on matters related to Process Safety.

Support in the risk management processes related to process safety. Ensuring the business has adequate policies, strategies and technical expertise in place to effectively manage operational risks and to maintain compliance with applicable legislation and industry best practices. Hold the organisation to account with respect to process safety and support in the continuous improvement.

The role requires the individual to develop and maintain effective working relationships with regulators, industry associations and other third-party stakeholders. To contribute to the design, development and implementation of the process safety programmes and initiatives

The Process Safety Lead will be responsible for:
Safe Terminal and Operations (including COMAH Major Accident Prevention and Mitigation)

Support to ensure on-going assurance that the COMAH Safety Report remains suitable and sufficient for matters related to process safety; leading the technical safety aspects of the COMAH report, associated intervention inspections and response to actions.

Facilitation of process safety risk studies and gap closure plans to ensure that risks on the site are reduced to ALARP (HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, etc).

Support HSE Manager with management of third-party safety consultants as an “intelligent customer” to ensure effective delivery of discrete process safety study packages.

Provision of technical safety expertise, including support for: day-to-day activities, capital projects and wider business initiatives.

Support the monitoring, assessment, and reporting of process safety incidents and KPIs, including the production of statistics to enable the identification of and response to trends.

Assist in the development of the assurance programme to monitor and audit systems and processes.

Assurance that all modifications to plant, through management of change, meet the principles of ALARP with respect to safety.

To create and drive associated improvements within STL to manage risks to ALARP and deliver outstanding process safety performance.

**Qualifications**

ESSENTIAL - Relevant Engineering degree or equivalent (preferably Chemical Engineering)

DESIRED - Chartered Membership in a relevant discipline, such as engineering or safety.

DESIRED - MSc in Process Safety or relevant qualification

**Experience**
- Significant relevant experience in a major hazard industry, preferably bulk liquid storage.
- A detailed understanding of COMAH regulations and associated compliance requirements.
- Management of 3rd party stakeholders, including regulators.
- Practical experience with process safety methods and calculations.
- Process safety management systems.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £65,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
