**Job title**:Attendance Improvement Officer (Maternity Cover)

**Hours and weeks **37 hours per week, term time only plus 2 weeks (41 weeks per year).

**Actual salary **£25,868 - £27,830 (term time only plus 2 weeks)

**Job Purpose**:
Monitoring and improvement of attendance and punctuality of all scholars across the academy.

**Responsibilities**:

- To undertake home visits where necessary and ensure meticulous records of actions and outcomes are kept.
- To ensure that student attendance is recorded accurately and in full by all staff
- To ensure that first day contact with parents and carers is made promptly and addresses any issues arising from non-attendance
- To have up-to-date knowledge of the attendance reporting requirements which meet the needs of local and national stakeholders
- To follow up home visit intervention with appropriate letters to parents and carers in line with academy protocol
- To ensure all the statutory duty of legal action documentation is accurate and timely, liaising with other partners as required.
- To deal with holiday requests, interviews under caution and referrals for unauthorised absence
- To meet with parents and carers and to engage outside agencies in support of attendance issues as appropriate
- To produce management reports and other information which demonstrate the effectiveness of intervention strategies and direct resources to where they are needed;
- To ensure that attendance records are up to date
- Tracking, monitoring and reporting of CME cases across the academy ensuring timely referrals are made.

**General Responsibilities**:

- To work flexibly as part of the support staff team to contribute to the smooth operation of the academy.
- To commit to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
- To assist with duties relating to student safety and security, including break and lunchtime duties
- Attend meetings as required
- To develop your own skills and take part in continuous professional development
