**Reports to: Women’s Hub Project Manager**
**Deadline**:
**JOB PURPOSE**

The Maya Centre is a unique women-for-women charity based in Islington, offering free specialist counselling and holistic support to women on low incomes whose mental health and wellbeing have been affected by experiences ranging from deprivation and isolation to racism, exploitation and violence against women and girls (VAWG).

75%% of our clients come from minoritised Black, migrant or refugee backgrounds and we adopt specifically intercultural and intersectional approaches in supporting them towards greater voice, choice and control in their lives.

We currently offer our trauma-informed services in over 14 different languages, including:

- one-to-one psychodynamic and integrative counselling
- group work including psych-education and arts therapies
- complementary therapies including reiki, massage and reflexology
- targeted support - Irish Women’s and Black Women’s Projects
- Women’s Hub: Community Wellbeing Project

We are looking for a friendly and passionate Community Navigator with lived experience of minoritisation to join our Women’s Hub team. Your role will be to effectively engage and support Migrant and Refugee women within the Islington community, helping them to access wellbeing and practical support on issues relating to self-care, social connection, wider health and welfare. This is offered via a combination of a weekly drop-in group, 121 advocacy and signposting to partner organisations.

A keen advocate for women’s rights, your interest in participation means that you will encourage isolated women to reach out, build their confidence and help co-design a

series of wellbeing workshops: effectively designing the service which best suits them. You may also support them into other activities: our clinical services (counselling and group therapy), or our volunteer Leader Group, depending on their needs and interests.

We support very diverse groups of women and welcome Community Navigators with community languages alongside English. We are especially keen to hear from speakers of the following languages: Turkish, Somali, Bengali, Arabic, Albanian, Dari & Pashto as well as Eastern European languages.

Please note this post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

- Manage 1 volunteer within Peer Support Group.
- Support women to identify key wellbeing needs /interests/workshop requests.
- Support women to access, engage and complete therapy by identifying and addressing barriers to engagement.
