The core purpose of the role is to provide treasury management support including:

- Contributing to the treasury management process, including the review and development of the Treasury Management and Investment Strategy
- Checking documentation and releasing payments of significant monetary value as and when required
- Managing a portfolio of investments and determining optimal point at which to borrow
- Maintaining relationships with banks, brokers and treasury related third parties
- Providing appropriate recommendations to senior finance colleagues on financial implications of future cash flow forecasting and to support investment and borrowing decisions
- Calculating prudential indicators and monitoring of credit ratings of financial institutions.
- Working knowledge of local government finance
- Computer literate, including extensive experience with financial ledger systems, word processing and spreadsheets
- AAT qualified or studying for CCAB qualification or extensive experience in local government finance
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including ability to communicate complex technical matters to non-financial colleagues
- Ability to influence senior management and an awareness of political issues
- Ability to prioritise own work and that of others and to work accurately under pressure to meet conflicting deadlines
- Ability to analyse, interpret and respond to changes in external environment such as new government initiatives
- Ability to understand and analyse complex financial data.
- knowledge of the operation of a specialist area of finance (e.g. treasury management)
- Good analytical skills and ability to develop innovative and flexible solutions.
- Good interpersonal, people management and motivational skills
