An exciting opportunity has become available to join our School of Health Science and Social Care team. We offer courses from Entry 3 to Level 3 for young people and adults who want to progress into the health and social care sector. We are an outstanding department with highly committed and supportive staff.
As a Student Support Co-ordinator you will work with our young people and adults who need support with their wellbeing, safeguarding and pastoral care to aid in the removal of barriers to learning.
The role will involve working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that support plans are in place to enable all learners to meet their outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
- You will work alongside the vocational team to support our students' to remain on programme and achieve by providing invaluable wellbeing and safeguarding support.
- Provide support for learners in immediate crisis and involve making acute safeguarding referrals as appropriate.
- Being a main point of contact for internal and external support teams for students who have learning needs, including EHCP learners and looked after children/ care leavers.
- Involved in the administration of the additional learning support fund, coordination of departmental wellbeing activities and will be required to be a Designated Safeguarding Officer.
We are looking for someone who...
- Has experience in safeguarding young people and/ or adults.
- Is highly motivated and able to use their own initiative to respond to challenges as well as being able to work effectively within a team.
- Has experience of working with vulnerable groups in an educational setting and of working with a range of internal and external partners and referring into their services.
- Is able to stay calm and work under pressure.
- Has a commitment to professional standards and restorative practice approaches.
