Derby, United Kingdom Rolls-Royce Full time

**Job Description**:
**Emergency Planning Officer - Submarines**

**Full time**

**Derby (with hybrid working)**

**Why Rolls-Royce?**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced emergency planning professional to join Rolls-Royce Submarines as an **Emergency Planning Officer.**

The Rolls-Royce Raynesway site will undergo a significant period of expansion and development over the coming years and you will support the necessary changes to the Emergency Arrangements

We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.

Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.

Our submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. As the Emergency Planning Officer you will be responsible for the management, co-ordination, training and exercising of the emergency arrangements for the Raynesway site, with a particular focus on nuclear emergency arrangements for the two nuclear licenced sites.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

**What you will be doing**:
You will develop and maintain emergency arrangements and all associated procedures across the Raynesway site.
- Support the development of the Raynesway estate by providing specialist emergency planning advice and support.
- Manage the accreditation process of Emergency Controllers.
- Ensure all emergency facilities, infrastructure, equipment, evacuation routes and signage are maintained and ready for use at immediate notice.
- Maintain relationships and co-ordinate appropriate training with relevant external organisations, including the emergency services, local authorities, agencies, nuclear emergency organisations and regulators.
- Support the maintenance and development of the Site safety case and compliance with relevant Regulatory and Statutory requirements e.g. Licence Conditions.
- Support Local Authorities and emergency services in maintaining the Raynesway off site plan in accordance with REPPIR regulations.

**Who we’re looking for**:
At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.
- Experience of nuclear / emergency arrangements
- Experience of running multi-agency emergency and/or security response exercises
- Working knowledge of Civil Contingencies Act, principles of emergency planning and business continuity management
- Knowledge of IRRs, REPPIR and COMAH
- Good presentation and instruction/training capabilities and skills
- Desirable to have knowledge of the Raynesway Estate

We’re an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.

**Closing Date: 27th February 2024**

**Job Category**:
HS & E

**Posting Date**:
20 Feb 2024; 00:02
