My name is David and I live in my own home in Tullibody. I have complex Autism and I am non-verbal, so it’s important my team understand me and the way I communicate. When I become anxious or upset, I like my staff to help me to feel safe and relaxed.
During the day, two people support me and I have one person who supports me overnight. My Autism means that it takes time for me to adapt to changes, especially when new people are supporting me. This is why I need staff who are patient and communicative, who can help me to process change at my own pace. Ideally, my team will have experience of supporting others with complex Autism in the past.
I love going out for a drive, so I need staff who have a
**UK driving license**. My parents are very important to me and I enjoy spending time with them.
My staff team are very supportive and as well as supporting me with the things I enjoy, they also help me with:
- Medication administration
- Cooking and shopping
- Assisting with personal care
- Maintaining my home and managing my finances
My staff support me from 10am - 8pm or 9.30am (day 1) - 9.45am (day 2) with a sleepover. This support helps me feel safe in my home.
