Your new role

Here at National Highways, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Governance and Performance Manager to join our Regional Investments Programme (RIP) PMO South division within our Major Projects directorate.

In this role you will be the regional lead for governance, supporting on the delivery of £1.5bil of schemes by owning the regional schedule for Investment Decision submissions, Stage Gate reviews and Independent Assurance Reviews. You will work with deliveryteams to monitor scheme and programme performance against the baseline for cost and schedule and be the local governance lead providing advice to the PMO Manager and Regional Director on appropriate action required for change control and lead on that process.

This role can be worked from our Bristol or Bedford office’s. National Highways operates hybrid working, some travel may be required to other sites up to 3 times per month.

What you’ll be leading on

Be the regional expert on Governance processes, thresholds, and best practice.
Lead a programme of continuous improvement regionally, contributing to the wider division.
Lead on change control for the region, advise the regional PMO Manager and Regional Director on where change may be required.
Own the regional programme baseline for cost and schedule.
Monitor scheme performance against that baseline and provide analysis and commentary for the regional reporting for those metrics.
Proactively working with schemes to Develop investment decision points and assurance through the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with Project teams, Senior Responsible Officers, stakeholders and delivery partners ensuring the flow of consistent accurate data.
Be part of the PMO team undertaking Deep Dive reviews of projects (by exception) to assure Project Controls processes and data.
Ensure submissions follow the latest guidance and liaise with the central secretariat to manage Governance bookings.

To be successful you’ll need

Experience of Governance processes, preparing submissions and reviews.
Experience of delivering improvements to systems and processes, embedding change, and achieving measurable business benefits.
Good understanding of Baselines and monitoring scheme and programme level performance against them.
Ability to analyse data and sound skills with Excel and Word
Clear ability to prioritise conflicting demands in order to meet challenging deadlines
Ability to form and develop positive, helpful, responsive, and supportive relationships with supply chain and regional teams.
