**Job Summary**:
Operate as a Trade Effluent Plant Operator working as part of a team to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency of the onsite Trade Effluent Facility. The successful applicant will work closely with the other members of the Regulatory Compliance Team to ensure the plant operates without any disruption to production wet treatment facilities.

**How You'll Contribute**:
The Plant Operator will be responsible for the day to day operation and running of the plant. Ensuring all effluents received are treated and discharged within the Consent limits set by The Sewage Undertaker (Bristol Wessex Water), within the Regulatory Compliance Department.

Also to evaluate and manage the safe and legal disposal of all waste chemicals / materials from Filton, Global Technology Centre and Western Approach Sites ensuring compliance with current UK legislation.

The job holder will also be a company responsible person ensuring all waste consignment notes are completed to the standard required of the Waste ( England and Wales ) Regulations 2011.

Plant- Helping to maintain air systems, pumps, pipe work etc.
- Helping to maintain equipment both internally and externally
- Maintaining chemical systems
- Checking and topping up various oils and sand filter.
- Helping to maintain associated plant such as sump pumps etc
- Cleaning filters when required
- Checking prepared reagent stock levels
- Checking concentrated reagent stock levels
- Test and confirm the calibration of all the plant pH probes
- To clean pH probes when required
- Throughout the shift to control the input of all effluents into the Trade Effluent Facility
- To sample and analyse effluents prior to batch treatment
- To complete a written detailed log of all daily tests, activities etc
- Flexibility- Practice lower level skills and activities. Including cleaning & assisting out of trade activity.
- Work with sub contractors when required
- Demonstrate improvements to plant reliability and availability

**What You'll Bring**:
Successful applicants will normally have a Professional level qualification (HNC or City & Guilds Part 3) and the role also requires a certain level of physical and manual handling.
Previous experience in a chemical handling environment is highly desirable.

The Plant Operator will study to achieve a Certificate of Technical Competence ( Level 4 High Risk Operator Competence for Managing Physical and Chemical Treatment of Hazardous Waste) issued by the Chartered Institution of Waste Management ( CIWM )
