Aviva are hiring a new Head of Accident and Health Underwriting as we seek to build on a large A&H profitable Account..

The role will lead a team of 5 senior underwriters in London as well as dotted line reporting for another 7 underwriters outside of London.

Through this role we seek to achieve a balanced portfolio both by product and geography with the core focus being UK and Europe.

The successful, experienced applicant will lead, develop and implement the A&H strategy and be responsible for and manage A&H P&L within GCS.

We are looking for someone with experience of and ability to build the team, develop new products and appetite extensions, represent A&H at external events, industry bodies and with key internal stakeholders in Technical Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Risk & Governance.

You will also ensure the achievement of planned outcomes, performance levels and targets.

Key skills and requirements
- Provide clear strategic direction for the A&H Account
- Provide rationale and insights on performance of the A&H Account to deliver planned profit & volume over both short and long term
- Review technical, legal issues & developments and produce proposals to reduce risk and/or exploit opportunities and/or reduce blockages
- Review Claims developments and provide insight for account
- Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders within Market Management, CTU, Claims, Finance, legal and intermediaries
- Lead New Product role out and Appetite Extensions
- Lead, or contribute to projects as required
