International Relations Desk Officer

International Relations roles fall primarily in two areas, International Relations Group (IRG) and Complex Weapons International Cooperation Strategy (CWICS).

As a Desk Officer in IRG, you will support the International Relations leads, Head of International Relations Group and senior DE&S and MOD staff with secretariat support, negotiating and representing the UK domestically and abroad, and building and maintaining effective armaments cooperation relationships, which contribute to delivering DE&S and MOD objectives, to support of the IRG's role as the secretariat for the National Armaments Director, DE&S CEO.

As a Desk Officer within the DE&S Weapons Operating Centre, you will work in the CWICS team, who are responsible for developing the benefits of increasing international engagement, through exports and inter-governmental cooperation around Complex Weapons (CW). This is work that has a critical, material importance for the UK’s long-term strategy in this sector and impacts directly on UK prosperity.

You will have a broad range of responsibilities aimed at leveraging increased benefits to the UK MoD

through the export of CW to international allies and partners. You will be required to work with many stakeholders within DE&S, MoD, wider Government and industry, and exercise a number of skills including change management, communications, stakeholder management, analysis, leadership and innovation.

**Responsibilities**
- Supporting the management of change, including the implementation of novel approaches to managing international aspects, including establishing a Prosperity Office for CW exports.
- Analysis, assurance, and development of export forecasting processes.
- Integration and alignment with processes and approaches developed by the DE&S exports Programme Management Office.
- Supporting the interface between project teams and the wider export/international policy community in resolution of issues and to ensure alignment of understanding and intent.
- Liaising with and working alongside MoD and wider Government agents involved in planning, campaigning, and delivery of exports, cooperation, and wider international aspects.
- Supporting the Weapons Operating Centre’s participation in export governance and wider management of international aspects.
- Supporting the generation of submissions to Ministers and other senior officials with advice and recommendations for action.
- Support to UK/French Strategy Delivery Team and secretary to the 2* Strategy Steering Committee.
- Secretariat lead for all international briefings on CW matters.
- Management of UK Government responsibilities for the UK/French ongoing CW cooperation programmes (includes delivery of training).
