An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS practitioner, to join our BEEU Core team, specialising with working to support looked after children, providing Mental Health Consultation and Specialist advice to Social Workers and other care providers as well as providing direct interventions to children and young people with moderate - severe mental health difficulties.

As a CAMHS practitioner, you will be involved in carrying out assessments (including risk management) and actively be involved in managing a defined caseload, in which you will have the opportunity to deliver person centred effective treatment and interventions, with the aim of helping children and young people within the LAC system; develop skills and strategies to enable them to thrive.

You work directly with children and young people with mental health needs but also their carers/families and additional support networks including schools, social care, voluntary and partnership agencies to ensure a holistic approach to facilitate positive outcomes of care in relation to young people’s mental health needs.

You will have the opportunity to develop your supervision skills through the supervision of junior members of staff and students.

You will be fully supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychiatry, psychology, family therapy, occupational therapy to help with clinical decision making and establishing further needs which may be best met within a different discipline.

The post holder will be responsible for working collaboratively with social workers, other practitioners, and care providers to improve the experience and outcomes for Looked After Children, Young People, their Carers and Families.

To provide highly specialist mental health advice and consultation to social workers and care providers to support practice and management of young people presenting with a range of complex needs.

Assessing and providing therapeutic interventions for young people who are classed as ‘Looked After’ under the care of a local authority.

Management of a caseload, which includes, assessment, care-planning in conjunction with service user and carer/multi agencies and utilising service specific outcome measures to guide and evaluate effectiveness of individual treatment plans
