**PURCHASING ASSISTANT**

This role is instrumental to driving cost & supplier efficiency's, supporting business development across all channels of the business, improving the product range, group margins, and communications between Suppliers, Sales Teams, Finance and Buying.

**HOURS**

40 hrs per week Mon-Fri with ½ hour lunch break.

**SALARY**

£22-£24k p/a

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Support the Purchasing and Global Resourcing Manager as required.

To work closely with the Head Buyer on all buying activities to accomplish Company Strategy & Purchasing Strategy.

Responsible for purchasing goods, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring all terms meet company criteria.

Develop and agree Joint Business Plans.

Proactively engage in the continuous sourcing of suppliers and product domestically & internationally

Manage the cost, sale, margins and range of your assigned categories.

To attend inter-departmental and customer meetings as requested.

To maintain and develop excellent supplier relationships in a professional manner.

Responsible for negotiating with select suppliers

Stock Control

Conduct Price & Range Comparisons. Conduct range reviews

To negotiate with suppliers, and plan with sales teams, regular/seasonal promotional activity.

Responsible for generating additional revenue streams through supplier marketing support.

Generate purchasing and sales reports using Exchequer & Phocas.

Provide suppliers with stock forecasts & depletion reports where required.

To attend/partake in trade shows.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**

Min 3 years Buying Experience

Advanced IT Skills

Proven track record of achieving cost savings, generating revenue & GM per category

Team player with the ability to collaborate across functions

Confident net worker who can build positive relationships internally & externally
