Newborn Hearing Screener 2024/2025
**Job Title**: Newborn Hearing Screener
**Department**: Audiology
**Site**: Lincoln County Hospital
**Salary**: ( Band 3 AFC) pro rata
**Hours**: 24 hours per week
**Contract Type**: Permanent / Part-time
The NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) offers all new parents the opportunity to have their baby's hearing screened within the first few weeks of life. It is a core service within the NHS in England and part of the family of Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes. The NHSP Vision is to improve outcomes for every child through a high quality hearing screening programme, safe and effective assessments and family-centred intervention. Early identification, via the programme, gives babies a better ‘life chance' of developing speech and language skills and of making the most of social and emotional interaction from an early age.
**Post from/after**: 1st April 2024
We are seeking to recruit a friendly, organized and flexible individual to work as a member of our established team, under the supervision of the Newborn Hearing Screening Manager. You will be screening the babies and accurately recording clinical and test data relevant to the screening process. This post will involve the direct handling of newborn babies and contact with their parents. This post is part of the team based at Lincoln County Hospital. There is a requirement to travel regularly to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and other out-reach clinics throughout the county.
Applicants should have at least 4 GCSE’s (grades A-C or equivalent) including English and Maths. Excellent interpersonal, communication and computing skills are essential. Previous employment within a healthcare environment would be advantageous. Full training will be given to the successful applicant via e-learning and in house training followed by an external competency assessment. The successful applicant will also be expected to complete a Health Screener Diploma in Newborn Hearing Screening in due course.
