Whitehaven, United Kingdom The University of Manchester Full time

The University is seeking to appoint a Research Programmes Administrator to work across two of its sites in West Cumbria: the Dalton Cumbrian Facility (DCF), a state-of-the-art research base for radiation science located at the Westlakes Science and Technology Park, and the Robotics for Extreme Environments Laboratory (REEL), which focuses on developing technologies to support nuclear decommissioning and is based at the shared RAICo1 facility in Whitehaven. DCF is a partner in national research programmes and houses large-scale irradiation systems, as well as a range of specialist material preparation, modification and characterisation instrumentation. REEL is one of the hosts for the EPSRC’s National Nuclear User Facility for Hot Robotics (NNUF-HR), providing mock-ups and robotic equipment for academia and industry use and is a partner organisation of the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Collaboration (RAICo), a joint programme involving the UK Atomic Energy Authority, Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

You will collate data and maintain records of research activities across both sites, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. You will help collect feedback from external users, providing updates on performance. The role will require you to liaise with School Finance Officers to complete financial processes, including providing regular updates on the financial position of research programmes. Monitoring access, use and financial accountancy of experimental equipment will be a key responsibility for the post holder.

What you will get in return:

- Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
- Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
- Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
- Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
- Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
