“Pets Place” pet store within Stowe Veterinary Centre, have a vacancy for an additional pet care advisor to join their small team for two days a week. Extra hours may be available for holiday and sickness cover.

This position requires complete flexibility since the working days will vary each week as per a rota issued one month in advance. Weekdays are usually 8.15am-6.15pm plus Saturdays on a shared rota.

The successful person will be happy to initiate conversation with our customers and be naturally helpful and polite. They will be confident enough to lend a hand and serve whilst being supervised by the current team who will provide on-the-job training.

Duties will include (but are not limited to)
- Providing customer service to customers in person and on the telephone
- Processing accurate cash and card transactions through the computerised till system
- Monitoring stock levels, stock rotation, making sure products are well presented and clean with a good shelf life
- Keeping up to date with promotions and ensuring shelf labels and prices are visible
- General administrative tasks
- Opening and closing procedures that include end of day floor sweep/scrubbing machine
- After training, communication with suppliers, placing orders and receiving the deliveries

Person specification;
- A desire to genuinely get to know our regular customers and their pets, where going ‘the extra mile’ to help someone should come naturally
- A background in customer service and retail will be a big advantage
- Possess a confident and friendly telephone manner
- Have a desire to acquire the knowledge to promote the best in pet care and husbandry skills
- Possess good computer and keyboard skills
- Be accurate and competent to work alone at times (during lunch breaks and sickness)
- Be a reliable team player, with flexibility to swap shifts or work an extra day to cover holiday and sickness
- Be physically fit and active to assist with unpacking weekly deliveries.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From £10.42 per hour

Expected hours: 9 - 18 per week
