**Role Summary**: The Facilities Assistant will work as part of the facilities team ensuring that the Hospice buildings and grounds are well maintained and operated in safe manner. Principle Duties General To carry out unsupervised, routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not require the attention of a fully qualified craftsman at the main Hospice and retail locations To comply with the Health & Safety regulations and report any defects to the Facilities Manager To ensure all relevant check and services are carried out as stated in the Organisations policies and procedures To be flexible in approach to working hours based on the needs of the Hospice To assume the role of Facilities Duty Manager (rota basis 1 week in 4) To assist with the opening and unlocking of the main Hospice during the week. To be willing to travel to other premises as required To assist with the upkeep of the Hospice grounds To assist with the moving of furniture around the Hospice Health and Safety This is a physically demanding role so the successful applicant should have reasonable fitness with which to carry out the main duties of the role. This includes bending, stooping and lifting for short periods of time Ensure Uniform policy is adhered to at all times Be prepared to assist with any routine or unexpected inspections.

The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House (NHTH) is committed to encouraging volunteering throughout the organisation and as such the post holder will be expected to support and respect volunteers, and may be asked to work alongside or supervise a volunteer as part of their role whilst working at NHTH.

NHTH operates a no-smoking policy. The post holder should either be a nonsmoker or be prepared not to smoke in any Hospice premises, grounds or vehicles or when on NHTH business outside the office. This covers all types of burnt and smoked products including cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars, tobacco and non-tobacco products in whatever format. Adhere to all health and safety and fire regulations and to co-operate with the Hospice in maintaining good standards of health and safety.

Adhere to all NHTH policies and procedures at all times Actively promote and support the safeguarding of vulnerable adults, young people and children, observing and adhering to NHTH policies on safeguarding Uphold ethical and professional standards and not behave in a manner that is likely to bring the Hospice into disrepute. Promote and sustain a responsible attitude towards equal opportunities and diversity within the Hospice. Make a positive contribution to fundraising and raising the profile of the Hospice Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing registration requirements or any national professional or occupational standards associated with the role. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and development and to participate in any training relevant to the role.

For designated roles, the post holder will be responsible for health & safety, business continuity planning and/or risk management. (These responsibilities will be notified on appointment).
