**Purpose of the Role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for highly-motivated and proactive engineering students to join our McLaren Racing Design Engineering team, for a period of 12 months, that will see you contribute to our performance and expose you to how a Formula 1 team works, with hands-on experience in our Design teams.

Your placement will be in our Materials Engineering Group within McLaren Racing and will involve hands-on lab-based analysis for materials development and fault/failure investigations.

**Principal Accountabilities**:

- Quick integration within teams to maximise effectiveness.
- Delivering high-quality work in a timely manner, using strong time-management skills.
- Responsibility for specific projects, with guidance and support

**K**nowledge, Skills and Experience**:
The following attributes are required for this role:

- Currently studying a degree in Materials Science or Engineering
- General computing skills and software knowledge appropriate to placement area.
- A practical mindedness and a passion for motorsport.
- Previous experience in engineering is desirable, but not required.

**Personal attributes**:

- Proactivity and an aptitude for picking up skills and methods quickly.
- The ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints (with support provided to ensure this works well).
- An intelligent, data-driven approach to solving new and challenging problems, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills to work effectively as part of a close-knit team, with shared responsibilities, working under challenging conditions.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via regular shuttle buses, from which London Waterloo is a 30 minute train ride.
