As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of Colour and Materials designs for our programmes, working closely with our suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Colour and Materials design process, ensuring that all designs meet the required standards and are delivered on time.
  • Collaborate with our suppliers to develop new materials and finishes that meet our clients' requirements.
  • Work closely with our designers, function groups, marketing, and purchasing teams to ensure that all proposals meet the required standards.
  • Represent the Colour and Materials team at technical and senior meetings as required.
  • Develop and manage the Colour and Materials budget, ensuring that all costs are accurately forecasted and managed.
  • Carry out appraisals of junior and senior designers, providing feedback and guidance to help them develop their skills.
  • Work with our Design, CAS, Clay, and Engineering teams to present feasible solutions to Function Group representatives and Senior Management for sign-off.
  • Contribute to the creation and update of design standards and processes.
  • Input into Design Strategy and present Colour and Materials concepts to senior management and up to Executive level.
  • Assist in instilling the design statement, pillars, and principles to create a strong future design identity.
  • Support the Colour and Materials team to deliver new materials and finishes for all programmes.
  • Create Colour and Materials programme vision themes and Materials Variant List for all programmes.
  • Create and deliver the Colour and Materials Design research report and Design Intent Report for all programmes.
  • Submit Colour and Materials plans for long lead-time parts for all programmes.
  • Complete inputs to Marketing Features List.
  • Create and confirm Trim Level Strategy.
  • Deliver target samples and support Design Quality in delivery of Master Samples for all colours and materials.
  • Reconcile design intent, quality, and manufacturing feasibility with engineering and commercial requirements.
Requirements:
  • A University Degree in Art and Design or equivalent, with extensive experience as a Colour and Materials Designer.
  • Delivered Colour and Materials for programmes from G0 to G4.
  • Excellent experience leading and coaching a high-performance team working within tight deadlines.
  • Possessing a high level of self-motivation, people skills, initiative, flexibility, and determination to see a task through to completion.
  • Solid OEM experience working in a design department of an Automotive company.
  • Highly creative with excellent colour vision, colour harmony, and an intuitive understanding of perceived value and craftsmanship.
  • Significant knowledge of automotive/industrial colours and materials.
  • Presentation skills to explain and express design intention.
  • High Level of competence in using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong project planning/management skills essential.
  • Excellent understanding of Colour and Materials and vehicle design.
Personal Attributes:
  • Must possess a genuine passion for pushing the boundaries in Colour and Materials Design.
  • Highly motivated Team player with excellent communication and strong presentation skills.
  • Should be well organised and methodical, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Working exceptionally well under pressure.
