Job Description

Future Works Manufacturing Digital Lead

Bristol

Fulltime

Why Rolls-Royce?

It’s an exciting time to join the Defence business, specifically the Bristol Future Programmes (BFP) organisation as we look to shape the future of combat and wider Defence capabilities, growing our organisation for future generations.

Future Programmes UK and International is at the heart of securing the future growth of the Defence business. We are delivering tomorrows technology fast, by bringing together the company’s best engineers, programme managers and business professionals. Working in partnership with Governments, primes and new technology companies across the globe, we deliver future solutions to meet the customers emerging requirements.

In all areas these roles involve working with a range of key business stakeholders to support the delivery of key programme milestones thus enabling the delivery of our Defence Combat strategy for the next 50 years.

As we develop new products, we need to challenge the way we develop manufacturing and assembly processes in order to satisfy the quicker and cheaper challenge.

The role of future manufacturing digital lead is to:

- Shape and drivethe strategy for changing the way we use our key processes today. A lot of our processes are archaic and when it comes to developing for new products and are very time consuming. The role will require the future manufacturing lead to work cross functionally across the business in Bristol and further into the wider Rolls Royce organisation, AxRC network, University Technology Centres, etc..
- Drive and influence to ensure that a Model Based Enterprise is in place to enable Model Based Definition to operate effectively
- Drive and influence to ensure that the Digital system infrastructure is in place to ensure that the paperless/connected factory can operate effectively.

Rolls-Royce’s customers and the company have entrusted us to deliver the future technologies, people, processes and programmes. Successful delivery of these programmes will ensure both the UK and Rolls-Royce retains combat capability, ensuring freedom of action for the UK and enabling the company to maintain our market share in the Naval, Defence Aero and combat markets.

Future Programmes is looking for someone with drive, passion and commitment who can:

- Embrace agility - you will be able to respond quickly to challenges and be able to manage progress despite, missing, ambiguous, or changing requirements.
- Bold - you believe in yourself and the team to bravely push the boundaries, and feel comfortable with ‘failing fast’ to pursue rapid knowledge capture.
- Pursue collaboration - you find strength in working with others, both inside and outside of our business, and value the diversity of people and perspectives.
- Seeks simplicity - you keep it simple and remove complexity, in how you communicate and the way you work.

What you will be doing:
These roles provide you with a fantastic opportunity to:

- Develop manufacturing roadmap for key processes in future programmes and ensure that the right organisations (e.g. AxRC’s, UTC’s, etc.) are engaged to deliver the plan.
- Work closely with RRIT and IT external vendors to ensure that an IT infrastructure with the capability for MBD and paperless/connected factory is delivered.
- Develop digital first philosophy as part of solution for 50% quicker and 30% cheaper
- Align capability projects with the wider RR digital strategy.

Who we’re looking for:

- Clear understanding of digital manufacturing engineering
- Awareness and understanding in some or all of the following:

- Teamcenter
- MES
- IIoT
- MBD
- Project management skills, planning and executing activities to cost and schedule.
- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Evidence of strong communication skills both in planning activities and deploying across stakeholders, multiple teams & functions.

You should be highly numerate with strong technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking, including personal drive, excellent communication and presentation skills, and will need to contribute effectively in a team environment. You will be expected to take the lead in identifying project requirements, specifying and executing packages of work.
