Senior Support Worker

Oxford, United Kingdom Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Oxfordshire is developing its mental health Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment team. Currently this is a service to provide intensive home treatment to people living in Oxford City as a true alternative to admission and following discharge from hospital. The team is being developed and expanded to now include the whole county of Oxfordshire.

Senior Support Workers are instrumental in delivering intensive home treatments to service users in their own place of residence under the guidance and support of qualified Crisis Clinicians and Team Leader. Senior Support Workers will deliver recovery focused intervention (emotional and practical support) to a small caseload of service users and their nominated friends/family/carers.

Accessibility, responsiveness and excellence in customer service with the highest regard for service experience will be at the heart of the service and Senior Support Workers will use their skills and personal qualities to make this a reality. Our dynamic and dedicated team is multi-disciplinary, including nurses and occupational therapists, with peer support, social work, psychiatry and psychology input.

Oxford Health works in partnership with 5 third sector providers as part of the Oxford Mental Health Partnership (OMHP), and the new crisis service will be working closely with partners, in particular Oxfordshire Mind and the Safe Haven services in order to ensure diversity and choice of service for people experiencing a mental health crisis. Senior Support Workers must have the skills and aptitude to work creatively and proactively with our third sector partners.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust provides physical, mental health and social care for people of all ages across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.

Our services are delivered at community bases, hospitals, clinics and people’s homes, delivering care as close to home as possible

Our vision is that no matter who you are or where you are, you will tell us that you receive: “Outstanding care delivered by an outstanding team”

**Our values are**: “Caring, safe and excellent”

At Oxford Health we offer a wide range of benefits designed to support your career and wellbeing. These include:

In return we will offer opportunities for professional development and opportunities to influence and contribute to service development. You will be provided with regular supervision, appraisal and support. The service will operate 24/7 and a variety of working patterns will be available - we welcome flexible working requests. This post does not involve working night shifts but does require weekend and evening working.

This will be a challenging but rewarding role, working with people presenting with a range of mental health issues and risks. You must have a warm and friendly disposition and have very good communication and interpersonal skills. You must also be confident and motivated, flexible and be able to show initiative in an environment which is often busy, rewarding and dynamic. You will be an excellent communicator, demonstrating empathy to those service users accessing CRHTT services.

You will contribute to the growth and maintenance of key functions of the clinical area / Crisis Team by carrying out assigned tasks, involving direct and indirect care to patients under mínimal supervision and as directed by the Crisis Team Shift Co-ordinator, qualified staff and/or Team Leader. Following personal development planning and targeted training the competent practitioner will be in a position to work more autonomously in supporting patients.
