I'm Mat, the Service Manager for our Paediatric Speech and Language Service, and I'm really excited to tell you about an opportunity that has arisen for a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy assistant to join the team.

Within this role, you will be working closely with our qualified Speech and Language Therapists both in the Vale Royal localities to provide support to our Early Years / Complex needs services. You will help to support the teams in a variety of ways including delivering treatment sessions under direct supervision, creating resources for the team, and liaising directly with children, parents and other members of the Multidisciplinary team in a variety of settings.

The role will be extremely varied, and will provide opportunities to work in different areas within the service. You will receive significant support from our existing therapy assistants, speech therapists and also the team leaders in each area. We are also extremely keen within CCICP to promote personal and professional development.

To carry out specified interventions and programmes under the direct supervision of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist.

To report progress of patients during the implementation of planned interventions and programmes.

To work with an individual or group in a variety of settings appropriate to the patients need.

To respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients, contributing to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

To ensure patient safety and dignity at all times, using relevant methods to manage patients with challenging behaviours.

To utilise effective communication skills to ensure clinical advice and treatment programmes are delivered sensitively.

To liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team following discussion with a qualified clinician.

To ensure accurate, up-to-date clinical records are kept, ensuring their security and confidentiality at all times.

To contribute to the delivery of formal and informal training to patients and carers.

To assist in the preparation of training materials and organisation of group sessions as required.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.
