Nottingham, United Kingdom Thrive Tribe Full time

**Join us on our journey to empower over a million people to change their behaviours and thrive**

At Thrive Tribe we deliver award-winning healthy lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that make people happier and healthier It’s a super exciting time to join us as we begin to deliver our Integrated Health and Wellbeing Service (IHWS) throughout the City of Nottingham, and we’re looking for a Parent Support Mentor to join the team

Our IHWS programme is designed to support individuals and families to improve their health behaviours and make sustainable changes to their lifestyle. The programme consists of five key services;
- Stop smoking support
- Tailored physical activity programmes
- Adult weight management
- Child/family weight management
- Health Coaching

Residents across the City of Nottingham will be able to benefit from a variety of our established pathways and products, including Gloji Energy which provides eligible families a fun and engaging programme to support them to eat healthier, manage their weight and increase their physical activity levels. As a Parent Support Mentor, your role will be to engage with and support parents whose children have been identified as needing heathy lifestyle support primarily in relation to weight.

Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. We don’t like to stick to a firm JD as we know from experience that things change throughout the lifetime of a role and it gives our people the chance to play to their strengths.

A typical day as a **Parent Support Mentor **might include:

- Sensitively assessing families needs, goals and motivation to change, enabling suitable referrals are made into the Gloji Energy programme
- Being aware of and seeking out alternative sources of help for families with additional needs, and signposting families to these in a supportive and empathetic manner
- Being a key member of the Child Weight Management team, building effective relationships with practitioners to ensure a positive experience for families as they progress through the programmes
- Providing one to one advice and support to families on wider topics which may not be covered in depth in the Gloji Energy programme, such as positive parenting and fussy eating
- Liaising with other community groups and agencies as necessary (e.g. school nursing teams, social workers, family support workers) to support families on the pathway
- Attending outreach events to promote Gloji Energy with the aim of generating sign ups to the programme, whilst building relationships with key stakeholders
- Motivating, inspiring and supporting children and their parents/carers to adopt a healthier lifestyle, through a professional, knowledgeable and empathetic approach
- Utilising behaviour change techniques to support families on their healthy lifestyle journey
- Working with colleagues across all of our Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments - we’re always looking to share knowledge and resources
- Ensuring due consideration is given to Information Governance and Clinical Governance legislation, requirements and guidance
- Helping us maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and using every opportunity to embed our values

**About you...**

More than anything, we are looking for a team player who puts their heart in to their work. We’ve got some core values that run through everything we do, and we’d love it if they resonate with you too

**Be the change**

You like helping people. You’ll be working with those who need help the most, empowering them to make positive changes to thrive.

**Be effective**

You’re patient and can adapt under pressure. Always happy to make time for other people. And have a great attitude.

**Be happy**

You recognise the power of a smile. You value a fun, supportive workplace and want to come to work raring to go (check out our rating on Glassdoor).

**Be successful**

You are motivated and driven. Happy working solo or as part of a team, you love meeting targets. And will be given opportunities to contribute and develop your career.

**Be big-hearted**

You want to make a difference. Working with a like-minded team of optimistic people, we want the same thing to do meaningful work and change lives.

To work with us in this role you will need to have some experience of using behaviour change techniques to support individuals, ideally families, to make healthy lifestyle choices through nutrition, physical activity or health coaching. We’re looking for someone who can communicate to children and their parents, handling sensitive conversations about weight in a professional manner. If you have worked in a family support role before, or have a relevant qualification (such as health and social care, or health coaching) that would be a bonus

However, we hire based on attitude over traditional skills a
