Support Through Sport CIC are seeking a highly motivated, positive and dedicated Progressions Mentor to join our rapidly growing organisation working across disadvantaged areas of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to provide sport-based intervention and mentoring programmes to at-risk young people (8-18) within underserved communities.

Support Through Sport CIC works to an innovative Theory of Change which ultimately aims to increase protective factors to reduce risk and divert young people away from negative influences. Both Targeted and Progressions Mentors work to a bespoke outcomes framework, the adversity to achievement framework, to identify and focus work on, both risk and protective factors. We are looking for an energetic, experienced and passionate Progressions Mentor to use foundational relationships to support the development of young people, beyond sport.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Delivering numerous programmes across our target areas, to young people aged 8-18 who identify as at-risk or vulnerable to engagement in negative influences.
- Attend any and all meetings which are relevant to your role, typically mentoring team meetings - held 3-weekly.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with participants, staff, and volunteers.
- To enforce and adhere to all organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
- To portray a positive image of Support Through Sport at all times, to young people, staff, volunteers and members of the public.
- 1 to 1 engagement with young people, in a mentoring capacity.
- Attending community events - locally, regionally and nationally - to represent the organisation and it's core aims and objectives.
- Promotion of our work to young people and the wider public - including social media, events and community outreach.
- Mentoring groups of young people in a community setting to support pro-social development and to divert them from negative influences.
- Acting as a community role model, representing the organisation professionally, proactively and positively.

**You will be supported to meet a benchmark of training and standards which includes;**
- First Aid Training
- Managing Challenging Behaviour Training
- Duty to Care - UK Coaching
- Safeguarding Children and Young People Training
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training
- Level 3 Qualification in sport/community/health/social (or working towards)
- Enhanced DBS Check

Support Through Sport may also provide further development training to all staff members within the organisation. This includes, but is not limited to: accreditations, FA coaching qualifications, ABA boxing certifications, NYA youth work training, Equality, diversity and inclusion training and more.

**Key Information**

Salary - £10.50/hr + Expenses

Hours - 5-15 per week (flexible)

Location - Various Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire

Office - Castle Cavendish Works, Nottingham, NG7 5PN

Transport - Full UK Driving License Desirable

You will be required to have an enhanced DBS check which Support Through Sport will pay for. You will also be required to follow all of Support Through Sport’s policies and procedures, which will be discussed at induction and provided in the staff handbook. This is a great opportunity to develop yourself and progress in the fields of sport, youth work, leadership and management.
