**Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people and refugees. We offer accommodation, skills and language support, and use a strength based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a manner which works for them.**

We are currently recruiting for a Part-Time Housing Officer to join the HIPS (Homeless Intervention and Prevention Service) scheme in Huddersfield. HIPS works alongside people who are experiencing homelessness, are at risk of homelessness, or who are at risk of losing their home due to experiencing difficult times.

**The role**

As a Housing Officer for HIPS, you will be responsible for the day-to-day housing management of a portfolio of properties throughout the Kirklees district. You will provide intensive housing management to the people living in these properties. Further, you will work alongside HIPS Support Coaches who are delivering person-led coaching to assist individuals to overcome barriers they are facing around housing.

**What we are looking for**
- An understanding or experience of the challenges faced by people going through difficult times e.g. homelessness, ill-health, offending, unemployment etc.
- Understanding of and/or experience of strength-based, person-led approaches
- Experience of housing management including reporting repairs, health & safety, void management, dealing with tenancy issues, tenancy enforcement etc.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with people based on transparency, trust and respect.
- Ability to listen to people and recognise them as experts in their own lives.
- Ability to climb stairs and undertake manual handling, for example moving white goods, furniture.

**What Horton offers in return?**

In return, this role is offering a salary of up to £12,326 based on 17.5 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday.
