Cardiff, United Kingdom Public Health Wales NHS Trust Full time

This is an exciting and pivotal senior leadership position leading the strategic vision and implementation of our growing Health Economics and Modelling team. The role is based within our WHO Collaboration Centre for Investment in Health and Well-being, and as such, you will work closely with the WHO, national and international partners, shaping the health economics agenda in Wales and beyond, shifting investment towards prevention.

If you are enthusiastic and motivated, then this is an exciting opportunity for you to join our highly talented, cross functional, dynamic and friendly team.

The post holder will lead the strategic development, implementation and operational management of our Health Economics and Modelling unit. You will work across Public Health Wales to develop our health economics capacity, identifying areas of research, and providing guidance and support to the wider organisation. You will work with partners externally to make the case for investment in public health.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Public Health Wales is the National Public Health Institute in Wales. Our vision is 'Working to achieve a healthier future for Wales'. We play a pivotal role in driving improvements in population health and well-being, reducing health inequalities, improving healthcare outcomes, protecting the public and supporting the development of health in all policies across Wales.

Never more has public health been so important as we come through the Coronavirus pandemic, face the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis and tackle and prevent the harmful effects of climate change. We are an organisation that places ourselves at the heart of supporting people, communities, partners, and the Welsh Government in addressing these major challenges and providing solutions for action.

For further information about the vacancy please see the job description and personal specification attached.

Public Health Wales’ Policy and International Health Directorate has been designated as a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre (CC) on Investment for Health and Well-being, becoming part of a global network of more than 800 WHO CCs. We work closely with the WHO, the Welsh Government and other national and international partners and networks to develop, gather and share expertise, information, intelligence and innovative approaches and tools, informing policy and practice. Our focus is on how to invest in order to improve health and well-being, reduce health inequities, build stronger communities and resilient systems within and beyond Welsh borders, driving sustainable development and promoting prosperity for all.
