Working within Middlesbrough Council, our team helps those experiencing problems with substance use, domestic abuse, and homelessness. We are looking for a passionate, motivated individual to join our Criminal Justice Team as a Recovery Caseworker.

Your role will be to work closely with magistrates and judges to consider appropriate sentencing for those in the criminal justice system who require support from substance user services. Working with clients who are due to be released from prison, you will build relationships with community services ensuring the support the client received in prison remains in place when they are released.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

- Triaging clients coming through custody._
- Working with clients to help them remain engaged with agencies that can move their lives forward positively._
- Completing assessments._
- Identifying appropriate interventions, services, placements, and packages of support to meet individual needs and goals._
- Working evenings and weekends where appropriate to meet service needs._
- Working collaboratively with agencies, client, and their personal support networks to co-produce personalised plans._
- Supporting colleagues from other agencies where appropriate, including providing rapid response to crisis._
- Regularly reviewing cases and measuring outcomes, identifying, and overcoming triggers/crisis points that may lead to clients disengaging or resisting help._
- Recording and maintaining progression, ensuring clients are aware of their support and safety plans._
- Reducing involvement as clients gain sustained independence and planning safe exits from service._

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:

- A collaborative approach to working._
- You will also need access to your own vehicle._

Although prior experience or knowledge of substance use services would be an advantage, if you are willing to learn and have the necessary skills, we would like to hear from you.

Due to the nature of this role, an enhanced DBS check against adult and children is required, as well as a police vetting
- If you are successful at interview stage, we will facilitate this.

This vacancy is fixed term until 31.03.2025 working part time 15 hours per week.
