**Introduction**

The Grants Officer post works within a small staff team helping to deliver grant funding programmes across Dumfries and Galloway, which focus on supporting and developing young people in the region.

The Holywood Trust has been operating in Dumfries and Galloway for over forty years. It provides grant funding to individual young people as well as organisations working with, or providing opportunities for, young people across the region. The Trust is a registered charity and is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees.

**Summary**

**Job Title**: Grants Officer (permanent post)

**Location**:Hestan House, Crichton Business Park, Bankend Road, Dumfries.

**Responsible to**: Grants and Learning Manager (for line management).

**Salary**: £29,000 per annum, pro rata.

**Hours**:27 hours per week.

**Background**

**Key Responsibilities**

The postholder will work closely within the Grants Team, and with other members of staff, to ensure the effective distribution of the Trust’s funds through grant giving.

**Main Duties**
- Support the administering of grant payments.
- Support the administration of progress reports.
- Visit grant recipients and monitor grant awards.
- Keep accurate records and data of relevant grant information using the Trust’s online system.
- Give presentations to publicise the Trust’s grant funding.
- Act as an advocate for The Holywood Trust at events.
- Proactively engage in relevant learning and training opportunities to further knowledge and skills.
- Support programmes of learning and capacity building for funded organisations.
- Leading visits to funded organisations for staff and/or Trustees.
- Attending meetings with Trustees if required.
- As part of a small staff team you will be required to be flexible with duties and cover basic administration duties from time to time.

**Person Specification**
**Essential**:

- Minimum of three years experience working with third-sector organisations, with evidence of skills gained through this experience and any relevant qualifications / short courses.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- The ability to analyse information and figures.
- Fair and objective decision-making ability.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills.
- Excellent IT and administrative skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage complex workloads, prioritise a variety of tasks and deliver work to agreed timescales.
- An ability to achieve and maintain good working relationships within a small team.
- Evidence of personal and professional development.
- A willingness to participate in activities which will take place outside normal working hours and/or the normal workplace.
- Hold a current UK driving licence, access to a car, and willingness to travel.
- A friendly, flexible, and ‘can-do’ attitude.

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working with young people, volunteers, stakeholders and external partners.

**Terms & Conditions**

**Salary**: The salary will be offered at £29,000 per annum, pro rata.

**Basis**:The post is permanent and part-time (27 hours per week).

The postholder will, on occasion, be required to fulfil evening or weekend work. Overtime is not available for this post, but time off in lieu will be arranged by agreement with the line manager.

**Location**:The post is nominally based at the Trust’s offices at Hestan House, Crichton Business Park, Bankend Road, Dumfries. The Trust currently operates a hybrid approach to working between the office base and home. You will be regularly required to travel to attend meetings and events and visit applicants and funded organisations.

**Working pattern**: A flexible approach to working patterns is offered.

**Annual leave**: The postholder is entitled to the equivalent of 31 working days paid holiday per annum, pro rata, including 11 days of public holidays.

**Pension**: Contribution equivalent to 10% of your annual salary to personal pension.

**Notice period**:Four weeks’ notice of termination of contract by either party shall apply.
