A four-year post-doctoral research post within the Astrophysics Research Institute (ARI) at LJMU is available, working with Dr Gavin Lamb on the electromagnetic counterparts to gravitational wave detected sources (GW-EM) and high energy transients e.g., gamma-ray bursts (GRB).

You will have experience setting up, running, and interpreting the results of hydrodynamic simulations of relativistic jets. However, you will have a strong and independent research track record in any area of GW-EM and/or GRBs will be considered.

You will be encouraged to initiate, build, and grow existing (group) or new collaboration networks to maximise the impact, scope, and reach of the various research projects as well as present key results at both domestic and international conferences and/or collaborator's institutions. The position provides opportunities to work with and mentor PhD students within the time domain astronomy group at the ARI.
