Job description

**Job Reference**:
**Position Type**:
Full-time (35 h/w) (not including breaks), permanent.

**Location**:
Flexible, can be based at our head office in Penryn, Cornwall, UK; or our sub-office in Barcelona; or working remotely

**Summary**

The Borneo Nature Foundation (BNF) aims to protect some of the world’s last great rainforests, working with government, community, and university partners in Indonesia for the conservation of forests, indigenous livelihoods and endangered wildlife including orangutans, through community-led programmes of habitat protection, restoration, research and education.

BNF International is a registered charity in England and Wales (no.1194359), established and led by BNF’s founders to promote our work globally, raise funding, and provide strategic, scientific and technical support for our activities in Indonesia. BNF International is headquartered in Penryn, Cornwall, with European wings in Barcelona, France and the Netherlands. More details on our work can be found on our website and social media channels.

We are seeking a Grants Officer to join our small, but rapidly-growing, charity and manage all aspects of our grants process from seeking new opportunities, writing proposals, coordinating with granting organisations and preparing narrative reports. BNF’s primary source of income for our conservation activities in Indonesia is via grants from multiple donors worldwide. Reporting to the CEO, you will manage BNF International’s grant databases and lead or otherwise support grant writing, reporting and related donor communications.

This role may conducted remotely or be based in one of our European offices, with some short-duration travel required from time to time within UK and between European offices, and additional periodic travel to Indonesia required to coordinate with our Indonesian partners and visit the conservation projects. To fulfil this rewarding and challenging role, you will therefore have demonstrable experience of grant-writing, preferably in the environmental conservation field, have excellent writing and organizational skills, ability to work to deadlines and ideally have a passion for conservation and the natural environment.

**Key tasks**
- Coordinate BNF’s grant-seeking process by chairing our internal Grants Working Group to identify opportunities, coordinate grant writing and reporting, working to ensure that deadlines are met and responsibilities are assigned among our team.
- Lead grant writing from inception through to submission, coordinating with BNF International and Indonesia team members as necessary to acquire relevant input and information and ensure proposals are meeting our project needs.
- Lead grant reporting up to submission, coordinating with BNF International and Indonesia team members as necessary to acquire relevant data / coordinate report writing.
- Communicate with grant-giving organisations as required.

**What will you bring?**
- Experience and demonstrable success in grant-writing and reporting, ideally within the environmental conservation sector.
- Ability to work to deadlines and confidence working within a small team to work together on preparing, reviewing, editing and submitting proposals and reports; and ability to quickly grasp the nature of a project and its requirements.
- A friendly and personable nature, with attention to detail and flexibility to accommodate changing demands at short notice.
- Ideally, a passion for conservation and the natural world

**Benefits**
- Option to enrol in our workplace pension with employer contribution equivalent to 3% of gross monthly salary
- 21 days paid leave plus bank holidays
- Flexibility for remote working
- All expenses paid for travel within UK and Europe and periodic visits to Indonesia
- Personal development opportunities.

**How to Apply**

Interviews are expected to be conducted during April, with a start date as soon as possible thereafter. Informal inquiries are welcome.

Borneo Nature Foundation International is an equal opportunities employer, committed to fostering an inclusive culture that promotes equality, values diversity and maintains a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all project members and visitors are respected.
