Residential Childcare Worker
*Part time and Full time positions available*
Salary from £11 per hour
- £60 per sleep
Location: Rochdale
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new and expanding organisation as a Residential Childcare Worker in a Crisis Intervention Children's Home. As a Residential Childcare Worker you will deliver a sensitive and nurturing recovery focus approach to Children and Young People who have experienced adverse childhood and experiences and present with behaviours which challenge.
The role requires you to promote a restorative culture and utilise skills of trauma informed approaches to meet the support needs of the individual children's social, psychological, behavioural cultural and educational needs. It is important for this role to have a positive attitude towards working with young people and have a flexible approach to work as you will be required to complete sleep-ins which you will receive additional pay for.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Contribute to the delivery of effective individual placement plans, risk assessments and other children's records**.**
- Support children to make progress and achieve positive outcomes.
- Ensure children are safeguarded
- A positive and caring environment is maintained, where emotional and physical needs are met.
- 'Safe care' standards are met.
- Opportunities for children to develop and make progress are maximised.
- Children's views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate.
- Good quality records are maintained, as required, with supervision and advice from the Homes Manager
- Good professional practice in the home in accordance with Ofsted Regulations including the 9 quality standards.
- Create and maintain a positive environment for each child, with regard to their safety, health and education.
- Support and development of relationships with colleagues in the Children's homes and other agencies.
- Undertaking a 'key worker' role with Children as required.
- Sleep-in duties on a rota basis and flexible working in keeping with the needs of the service
- Ensure the home is kept clean, tidy and safe condition, encouraging the children to participate as appropriate.
- The preparation and cooking of nutritious meals considering dietary and cultural needs.
- To transport young people to activities/education etc
- Understand trauma and adverse childhood experiences, and support with behaviours that can challenge
**Essential**
- Must have a level 3 diploma in residential childcare/YP workforce or be willing to work towards
- Must have experience in working in a residential setting
- Able to manage conflict/challenging behaviour
- Maintain home records
- Complete records to a high standard (Such as daily reports)
- Plan and prioritise workload
- Maintain sound professional judgement when working under pressure
- Demonstrate flexibility and initiative
- Learn and develop new skills
- Good level of applied literacy and numeracy
- Be prepared to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as per rota. (Including Christmas period)
- Communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels.
- Be professional at all times
- Form effective relationships with children and act as a positive role model
