**Key Purpose**:
To manage the day-to-day payables activities of the finance team for RABI, overseeing the effective operation of the payables process for both RABI suppliers and RABI beneficiaries. This role will also assist the Finance Controller with the smooth running of the department.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for two payables ledgers, Grant Payments (E200) and General Payments (E100).
- Maintaining the two SAGE Intacct accounts payable ledgers to ensure invoices are accurately recorded, coded, and authorised invoices and grants are paid by due date.
- Record incoming invoices by direct input or by upload of data from excel.
- Oversee the staff expenses process.
- Monthly close the payable ledgers ensuring all invoices and payments are recorded and all month end reports are complete.
- Reconcile the Grants and General Ledger Payables control account back to source data.
- Use online bank system to set up and process payments. (Natwest Bankline).
- Manage the payables in accordance with the agreed Payment Timetable, including the weekly and quarterly grants payments.
- Constantly review processes to improve efficiency and or controls.
- Liaising with other staff, including Heads of Department, on payables matters, in particular, the Welfare department over grant payments to and on behalf of RABI beneficiaries.
- Monitoring PO list as part of the payment run.
- Supporting Emergency Grant campaigns as required.

**Person Specification**:
Essential
- Extensive experience of whole accounts payable procure to pay function, including purchase order matching, invoice input, authorisation process and supplier payment runs.
- Experience as either an Accounts Payable Team Leader or Sole Charge Accounts payable.
- Knowledge of modern accounting software with a positive approach to continuous improvement.
- Understanding of accounting principles.
- Experience of using commercial business banking systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritising as appropriate and communicating effectively to the customers of the service.
- Excellent IT software skills (MS Office and Excel in particular).
- Tidy, systematic, and organised.
- A caring nature, treating everyone with empathy and compassion.
- Flexible, resilient and solution focussed working with sensitivity, integrity and without prejudice.
- Team player.

Desirable
- Knowledge of SAGE accounting software.
- AAT qualified.
- Farming background or knowledge of the farming community environment.
