**Job summary**:
UHB NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital Trusts in England. The Trust is composed of four main Hospital Sites; Queen Elizabeth (QE) Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull (HGS).
**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Specimen Reception is a fast-paced, high output environment covering all four sites; Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, and Good Hope over a 24 hour period and core hours at Solihull.
The role is a full time role of 37.5 hours a week. You will be required to cover a range of shifts, which will include weekends, Bank Holidays, lates (12:00-20:00 & 14:00-22:00) and nights (21:45-07:45), as part of the rota.

**Essential**:
- Education to GCSE in English and Maths.
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
**Desirable**:
- Completion of a medical laboratory assistant competency portfolio or evidence of laboratory working and competency
**Experience**:
**Essential**:
- Awareness of National Health Service.
- Awareness of the role of Medical Laboratories.
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues.
**Desirable**:
- Experience of working in clinical laboratories
- Experience of laboratory techniques and automation
- Experience of dealing with the public or
customer care
**Additional Criteria**:

- Expected to participate in all out of hours periods as required by service provision.
